abstract

Standard panoramic

Background and Aims: Overlapping of the proximal surfaces of posterior teeth in the panoramic radiography is a major concern. Therefore, an option has been developed in the panoramic unit of Planmeca Promax, namely improved interproximal mode. This mode causes lower horizental angle with the teeth contact region during the unit rotation decreasing overlapping of the panoramic images of the post...

Mosaic-Based Panoramic Depth Imaging with a Single Standard Camera

In this article we present a panoramic depth imaging system. The system is mosaic-based which means that we use a single rotating camera and assemble the captured images in a mosaic. Due to a setoff of the camera’s optical center from the rotational center of the system we are able to capture the motion parallax effect which enables the stereo reconstruction. The camera is rotating on a circula...

Personal Panoramic Perception

For a myriad of military and educational situations, video imagery provides an important view into a remote location. These situations range from remote vehicle operation, to mission rehearsal, to troop training, to route planning, to perimeter security. These situations require a large field of view and most would benefit from the ability to view in different directions. Recent research has le...

Multiperspective panoramic depth imaging

In this chapter we present a stereo panoramic depth imaging system, which builds depth panoramas from multiperspective panoramas while using only one standard camera. The basic system is mosaic-based, which means that we use a single standard rotating camera and assemble the captured images in a multiperspective panoramic image. Due to a setoff of the camera’s optical center from the rotational...

Panoramic High Resolution Spectroscopy

Stellar populations in galaxies are vast repositories of fossil information. In recent years it has become possible to consider high resolution spectroscopic surveys of millions of stars. New high resolution multi-object spectrographs on 4-8m class telescopes (HERMES, WFMOS) will allow us for the first time to make large and detailed chemical abundance surveys of stars in the Galactic disk, bul...
